He was a French naturalist who carried out botanical and zoological expeditions in Southeast Asia, his passage being paid for by grants from the aid of the Royal Geographic Society and the Zoological Society of London. Vong, Sisavang b. July 14, 1885 d. October 29, 1959 King of Laos. After the death of his father, he ascended the throne of the Kingdom of Luang Prabang on April 15, 1904. A strong advocate of French rule, he refused to cooperate with advocates of Lao independence, and as a result was deposed in 1945. The following year, the French restored his reign.
