Maygar, Leslie Cecil b. May 26, 1874 d. November 17, 1917 Second Boer War Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Lieutenant in the 5th Victoria Mounted Rifles, Australian Forces. At Geelhoutboom, South Africa, November 23, 1901, during an enemy attack Lieutenant Maygar galloped out in front of a detachment post, which was being outflanked and ordered the men to retire. Russell, John Fox b. January 27, 1893 d. November 6, 1917 World War I Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps, 6th Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers. In actions at Palestine, Israel, on November 6, 1917, Captain Russell repeatedly went out to attend the wounded under continuous fire from snipers and machine-guns.
