Farrell, Sgt. John b. March, 1826 d. August 31, 1865 Crimean War Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he served as a Sergeant in the 17th Lancers, Duke of Cambridge's Own, British Army. On October 25, 1854 at Balaclava, Crimea, known as "The Charge of the Light Brigade" Sergeant Farrell horse had been killed under him, stopped on the field amidst a storm of shot and shell.
