Benes, Eduard b. May 28, 1884 d. September 3, 1948 Czechoslovakian President. He was born in Kozlany, Bohemia, which at the time was a province of Austria-Hungary. He was one of the leaders of the Czechoslovakian independence movement. At the end of World War I, he participated at the Versailles conference and was one of the main forces behind the creation of Czechoslovakia.
