Burrell, Orlando b. July 26, 1826 d. June 7, 1921 US Congressman. During the Civil War, he served as a Captain in the 1st Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Cavalry, Union Army. After the war, he served as judge of White County, Illinois, 1873 to 1881 and as Sheriff of White County, 1892 to 1894. In 1895, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth Congress, serving until 1897. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death. Crebs, John Montgomery b. April 9, 1830 d. June 26, 1890 US Congressman. He moved to Illinois with his parents in 1837 and became a lawyer in 1852. He served in the Army during the Civil War, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and commanding Infantry and Cavalry units in camapigns throughout the South. After the war he resumed his Illinois law practice. In 1868 Crebs was elected as a Democrat to the US House of Representatives and was reelected in 1870, serving from 1869 to 1873. Williams, James Robert 'Dollar Bob' b. December 27, 1850 d. November 8, 1923 US Congressman. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1875 and Chicago's Union College of Law in 1876 and became an attorney in Carmi. From 1880 to 1882 he held the judicial position of Master in Chancery, and he was White County Judge from 1882 to 1886. In 1889 he was the successful Democratic nominee in a special election for the US House of Representatives seat left vacant by Richard W. Townsend's death.
