Bagby, John Courts b. January 24, 1819 d. April 4, 1896 Politician. U.S. Representative from Illinois (1875-1877) and a state court judge. Born in Glasgow, Baron County, Kentucky, he received his early education at Glasgow, and afterwards attended Bacon College, Kentucky, graduating as a civil engineer at the age of twenty-one. Hymer, Capt. Samuel b. May 17, 1829 d. May 9, 1906 Medal of Honor recipient. With only 41 men under his command, Captain Hymer (Company D, 115th Illinois Infantry) defended and held a blockhouse against the attack of Hood's Division for nearly ten hours on October 13, 1864 at Buzzard's Roost Gap, Georgia. This action checked the advance of the enemy and insured the safety of the balance of the regiment, as well as that of the 8th Kentucky Infantry, then stationed at Ringgold, Georgia. Rebmann, George F. b. April 10, 1840 d. August 20, 1918 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company B, 119th Illinois Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 9, 1865 at Fort Blakely, Alabama. His citation reads "Capture of flag." He was buried under his proper name of "Rebman".
