Marshall, Samuel Scott b. March 12, 1821 d. July 26, 1890 US Congressman. He attended Kentucky's Cumberland College and became a lawyer in 1845. He was a member of the Illinois House from 1846 to 1847, and served as State's Attorney from 1847 to 1848. Marshall was Judge of the Circuit Court from 1851 to 1854. He was elected to the US House as a Democrat in 1854 and reelected in 1856, holding office from 1855 to 1859 and serving as Chairman of the Committee on Claims.
