Alexander, Moses b. November 13, 1853 d. January 4, 1932 Idaho Governor. He served as Governor of Idaho from 1915 to 1919. When he was elected in 1914, he became the first Jewish governor in the United States. He went on to earn a reputation for wit, eloquence, and progressiveness. He was elected Governor of Idaho twice, and also elected Mayor of Boise, Idaho twice. As governor, he started the state highway system, workers' compensation and the State Insurance Commission. Borah, William Edgar b. June 29, 1865 d. January 19, 1940 Isolationist Senator from Idaho. Senator Borah was elected to 6 terms in the U.S. Senate and died of a stroke while still in office. One of only 16 'progressives' in the Senate at the time of his death, he was a noted 'Isolationist'. Offered the Vice-Presidential nomination by Calvin Coolidge, he declined. Freeman, Capt. Ed W. b. November 20, 1927 d. August 20, 2008 Viet Nam War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. French, John Robert b. May 28, 1819 d. October 2, 1890 Member of North Carolina state legislature, U.S. Representative from North Carolina 1st District, 1867-1869. Hochstrasser, Gilbert 'Gib' b. April 10, 1927 d. November 2, 1999 "Gib" Hochstrasser formed the Northwest's premier big dance band, "Kings of Swing" in 1974. They played in Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, and most major locations in Idaho. Hunt, Frank Williams b. December 16, 1863 d. November 25, 1906 Idaho Governor. The first Governor of Idaho to come in to office as a Democrat, he was born in Kentucky, and later moved to Gibbonsville, Idaho, where he worked as a miner. He served in the Spanish-American War, being chosen to be a Captain of a regiment of Idaho volunteer soldiers. Morrison, John Tracy b. December 25, 1860 d. December 20, 1915 Idaho Governor. Morrison attended Wooster University in Ohio and law school at New York's Cornell University. On moving to Idaho, he established a legal practice in Canyon County and became involved in state politics with unsuccessful attempts for a seat in the legislature. In 1902 he was elected on the Republican ticket as the sixth Governor of Idaho, serving from 1903 to 1905. He failed in his 1904 re-election campaign and resumed his legal practice until his death.
