Alderson, John Duffy b. November 29, 1854 d. December 5, 1910 US Congressman. He served as sergeant at arms and doorekeeper of the West Virginia State Senate before he was twenty. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1876, and began practicing in Nicholas and Webster Counties, West Virginia. Elected to Congress as a Democrat in 1888, he served three terms, from 1889 to 1895. Defeated for reeleciton in 1894, he returned to his law practice in Nicholas County. Wolverton, John Marshall b. January 31, 1872 d. August 19, 1944 US Congressman. Elected to represent West Virginia's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1925 to 1927, and 1929 to 1931. He was defeated as Republican in 1926, and 1936.
