McGowan, Samuel b. October 9, 1819 d. August 9, 1897 Civil War Confederate Brigadier General. Born in Laurens District, South Carolina, McGowan attended the school of Thomas Lewis Lesly, and the South Carolina College of which he graduated in 1841. Venturing to Abbeville, he studied law under T.C. Perrin, and was admitted to the bar of South Carolina in 1842. Parker, Gen. Francis Lejau b. June 24, 1873 d. May 16, 1966 US Army Brigadier General. Parker was appointed to the United States Military Academy in 1890. He was an honor graduate of the class of 1894 and immediately appointed a second lieutenant and assigned to the Fifth Cavalry at Fort Sam Houston and later at Fort Ringgold in Texas.
