Gardner, Mills b. January 30, 1830 d. February 20, 1910 U.S. Representative from Ohio 1877-1879, Attorney, and Politician. Mills Gardner left school at age 14 at which time he was employed in a dry goods store as a clerk. At the same time he was studying law at night with his uncle the Hon. Nelson Barrere of Hillsboro (the last Whig candidate for governor of Ohio).
