Allen, William Vincent b. January 28, 1847 d. January 12, 1924 Civil War Veteran US Senator. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Served as a United States Senator from Nebraska from 1893 to 1899, and 1899 to 1901. He was defeated in 1899. Also served as a District Judge from 1891 to 1893, 1899, and from 1917 to 1924. Krall, Heidi b. August 5, 1920 d. August 16, 2013 Opera Singer. A soprano, she is remembered for her career at the Metropolitan Opera that saw her sing 286 performances in a variety of roles. Raised in northwestern Ohio, she manifested her talent early, enrolled at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1940, later studied at Tanglewood with noted conductor Boris Goldovsky, and relocated to New York City in 1948.
