Davies, Judge. Ronald Norwood b. December 11, 1904 d. April 18, 1996 He was the judge who ordered the integration of Central High School in Little Rock in 1957. Davies served in the United States Armed Forces. He was a First Lieutenant, serving as commander of the Reception Station and Induction Center at Fort Snelling in Minnesota. Hunt, Ken b. July 13, 1934 d. June 8, 1997 Major League Baseball Player. Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he made his debut as an outfielder for the New York Yankees on September 10, 1959. For six seasons, he was a utility player with the New York Yankees (1959-60), Los Angeles Angels (1961-63) and Washington Senators in 1964. He ended his career with a record of 177 hits, 107 runs scored, 33 homeruns, 111 runs batted in and a .226 average. He died at age 62 in Gardena, California. Kostka, Stan b. July 8, 1912 d. February 3, 1997 Professional Football Player. Born Stanislaus Clarence Kostka in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he was a fullback for the University of Minnesota Gophers football team which won the 1934 National Champion. In 1935, he played for the NFL Brooklyn Dodgers and later was head coach of the North Dakota State Bison football team (1941, 1946-47). He also served as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy during World War II. He died at age 84 in Fargo, North Dakota. Maris, Roger b. September 10, 1934 d. December 14, 1985 Major League Baseball Player. Roger Maris was born in Hibbing, Minnesota the son of first generation Croatian Americans. He was a product of summer American Legion baseball in the Fargo area of the state. The summer of 1953 saw him voted American Legion player of the year. Maris signed with the Cleveland Indians who assigned him to his home area team of The Fargo Moorhead Twins.
