Junaluska, Chief b. 1779 d. November 20, 1858 Born in the Cherokee Nation (near present day Murphy); adopted son of Yonaguska aka Drowning Bear. Married Wallee, who died on the Trail of Tears to western Indian Territory along with his children. Married Ni-suh. A warrior at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814, he saved the life of Andrew Jackson, an act that he publicly regretted in his later years.
