Blaylock, Marvin Edward b. September 30, 1929 d. October 23, 1993 Major League Baseball Player. He spent four years in the major leagues as a member of the New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. McMath, Sidney Sanders 'Sid' b. June 12, 1912 d. October 5, 2003 Arkansas Governor, Author. McMath served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, achieving the rank of Major General by the time he retired. He served as Governor of Arkansas from 1949 to 1953. In 2003 he released his book, "Promises Kept," which chronicled his war years when he served in the South Pacific and also his political career. Sawatski, Carl b. November 4, 1927 d. November 24, 1991 Major League Baseball Player. Was 20 years old when he had his major league debut on September 29, 1948 with the Chicago Cubs. In his career he was a catcher for the Cubs, the Chicago White Sox, the Milwaukee Braves, the Philadelphia Philles and the St. Louis Cardinals. While with the Braves, he was a key player in helping them win the 1957 World Series and the 1958 National League pennant.
