In actions at Tarakan Island, Borneo, May 12, 1945, Corporal Mackey led his men along a very narrow spur where it was almost impossible to move to a flank. Scarf, Arthur Stewart King b. June 14, 1913 d. December 9, 1941 World War II Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Squadron Leader in the 62 Squadron of The Royal Air Force. On December 9, 1941, Squadron Leader Scarf, was leader of the raid on the Japanese Army at Singora, Malaya. Despite attacks from roving fighters he completed his bombing run and was on his way back when his aircraft was hit and he was severely wounded.
