Palmer, John b. January 29, 1785 d. December 8, 1840 US Congressman from New York. He graduated from Williams College, studied law, and began practice in Plattsburgh, Clinton County in 1810. He served as Paymaster for the Eighth Regiment of New York Militia in the War of 1812. In 1816 he was elected to the US House as a Democratic-Republican and served one term, 1817 to 1819. He did not run for reelection, and served as Clinton County District Attorney from 1818 to 1832.
