Collot d'Herbois, Jean Marie b. June 19, 1749 d. January 7, 1796 French Revolutionary Leader. Born in Paris, France, He was originally an actor and playwright. He became a member of the Jacobin club and published the Almanach du Père Gérard (1791), which was criticized for its royalist tinge, although its patriotism won a competition sponsored by the Jacobins.
