Dacko, David b. March 24, 1930 d. November 20, 2003 African Leader. The first President of the Central African Republic after it achieved independence from France in 1960. Dacko was a native of Bouchia, Central Africa, and educated at the Ecole Normale in Brazzaville, Congo, where he studied to become a teacher before entering politics.
