Washington, William Henry b. February 7, 1813 d. August 12, 1860 US Congressman. Washington served as a U.S. Representative from North Carolina from 1841 to 1843. Following his Congressional service, he was a member of the State House of Commons (1843 & 1846), and the State senate (1848, 1850, & 1852). Williams, William Joseph b. November 17, 1759 d. November 30, 1823 Williams was a colonial artist. He was the son of the artist and author, William Williams 1727-1791 and the nephew of the artist, mason and politician, John Mare, Jr. 1738-1804. Williams painted the portraits of the first three Presidents of the United States, George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson when they were in Philadelphia and were President, Vice President and Secretary of State respectively.
