Holmes (Hawes), Mary Jane (Mary Jane) b. April 5, 1828 d. October 6, 1907 Author. Born Mary Jane Hawes in Brookfield, Massachusetts where she taught in a district school at age thirteen. In 1852 she married lawyer, Daniel Holmes, and within a year moved to western New York where she wrote her first novel. "Tempest and Sunshine" was published in 1854 followed by "The English Orphans" in 1855. Seymour, Henry William b. July 21, 1834 d. April 7, 1906 US Congressman. Elected to represent Michigan's 11th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1888 to 1889. He was defeated in 1888. Also served as a Member of the Michigan State House of Representatives from 1880 to 1882, and Member of the Michigan State Senate from 1883 to 1884, and 1887 to 1888, for the 30th and 31st Districts. Shannon, Richard Cutts b. February 12, 1839 d. October 5, 1920 US Congressman, US Diplomat. Served as a Colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War.
