Freneau, Phillip Morin b. January 2, 1752 d. December 18, 1832 Poet, Journalist. The first professional American journalist, he was a powerful propagandist and satirist for the American Revolution and for Jeffersonian democracy. He incorporated the new stirrings of European Romanticism and escaped the imitativeness and vague universality of the Hartford Wits. Hall, Juanita b. November 6, 1901 d. February 28, 1968 Actress. She appeared in both the stage and film versions of "South Pacific" (1949 and 1958), in the role of "Bloody Mary." In the film she sang the songs "Happy Talk" and "Bali Ha'i." The stage version ran for 1,694 Broadway performances.
