Owens, Jack b. November 17, 1904 d. February 9, 1997 Acclaimed Musician. Known for "Bentonia style blues," Owens was a guitar player/singer and childhood friend of Skip James. Owens worked as a farmer in Bentonia and operated a juke joint as a side business. His music was documented by David Evans and Alan Lomax. Owens never left Bentonia until the last 10 years of his life.
