White, Benjamin b. May 13, 1790 d. June 7, 1860 US Congressman. He was educated in Goshen (now called Vienna), and moved to Winthrop in 1802 to work on a farm. he later continued his education at Farmington Academy and became a school teacher. During the War of 1812 he recruited troops and then served as a sergeant with a unit stationed in Castine and Eastport. In 1821 he began operating a farm and a sawmill in Montville whole continuing to work as a teacher.
