Ickes, Harold LeClair b. March 15, 1874 d. February 3, 1952 Secretary of the Interior during the Presidential years of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Mr Ickes was a strong supporter of civil rights. After President Roosevelt died, Harold Ickes did not get along with President Truman and he resigned from government in 1946 in protest over the appointment of Edwin W. Pauley, Under Secretary of the Navy. In his final years Ickes wrote a syndicated newspaper column and contributed regularly to the New Republic. Waters, Benjamin Arthur b. January 23, 1902 d. August 17, 1998 Jazz Musician. A vocalist, arranger and composer, he is known for his powerful saxaphone playing, Benny Waters began his recording career with Charlie Johnson's band over 70 years ago, making recordings with Benny Carter and Joe "King" Oliver. He also recorded with Hot Lips Page, Jimmy Lunceford, Memphis Slim. In 1994 he was part of the group the Statesmen of Jazz that toured in Japan.
