Hudson, Thornton James 'Pookie' b. June 11, 1934 d. January 16, 2007 Singer. In 1952, while in high school, he co-founded The Spaniels, a doo wop singing ensemble. His group was one of the first to sign with Vee-Jay Records and "Baby, It's You", in 1953, was their first hit. In 1954 he wrote "Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight" and sang the lead tenor in the recording. It sold more than a million copies, but Hudson was paid only $800 for it.
