Hadley, Osgood Towns b. January 19, 1838 d. October 5, 1914 Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company E, 6th New Hampshire Veteran Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on September 30, 1864 near Pegram House, Virginia. His citation reads "As color bearer of his regiment he defended his colors with great personal gallantry and brought them safely out of the action." Nelson, Nate (Nathaniel) b. April 10, 1932 d. June 1, 1984 Musician. R&B and Doo Wop singer. He was a member of the 1950s group, The Flamingos, who are best known for there renditions of love ballads. There hits include, "That's My Desire," "Golden Teardrops," "Jump Children," "The Vow," "If I Can't Have You," "Goodnight Sweetheart" and "I Only Have Eyes For You." Oland, Warner b. October 3, 1880 d. August 5, 1938 Swedish actor who played Chinese detective, Charlie Chan. He was married to a wealthy Bostonian, the artist Edith Gardener Shearn. Among their many houses was a historic farmhouse in the Southville section of Southborough. Upon Oland's death in 1938, he was buried in the town cemetery. The marker for his grave was originally the doorstep to the Oland's Smoke Tree Farm.
