Arnold, Laurence Fletcher b. June 8, 1891 d. December 6, 1966 US Congressman, Bank President. Elected as U.S. Representative from Illinois, 23rd District serving from January 3, 1937 to January 3, 1943. He began his political career in the Illinois State House of Representatives, 46th District, serving from 1923 to 1927 and again from 1933 to 1937. Brooks, Edwin Bruce b. September 20, 1868 d. September 18, 1933 US Congressman. He was a successful banker in Newton, Illinois, and superintendent of schools in Jasper County from 1914 to 1918. In 1919 he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses, serving until 1923. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as superintendent of charities for the State of Illinois, 1924 to 1930 and as assistant attorney general, 1930 to 1932. Fithian, George Washington b. July 4, 1854 d. January 21, 1921 US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1875 and the was prosecuting attorney of Jasper County, Illinos, 1876 to 1884. In 1889, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-first, Fifty-second and Fifty-third Congresses, serving until 1895. A unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and engaged in agricultural pursuits until his death.
