Amit, Meir b. March 17, 1921 d. July 17, 2009 Israeli General, Politician. He was head of the Israel's famed Mossad intelligence agency from 1963 to 1968, and former head of Israel's Defense Forces. Between 1954 and 1963, he served as general of both the southern and northern Israeli commands, and as Golani Brigade Commander.
