Sanders, George b. July 8, 1894 d. April 4, 1950 World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Leeds, England, he served as a Corporal in the 1/7th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, British Army. During the Battle of the Somme France, on July 1, 1916, after an advance into the enemy's trenches, Corporal Sanders found himself isolated alone with a party of 30 men.
