Johnson, William Henry b. October 15, 1890 d. April 25, 1945 World War I Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Nottinghamshire, England, he served as a Sergeant in the 1/5th Battalion, Nottinghamshire Regiment, British Army. At Ramicourt, France on October 3, 1918,when Sergeant Johnson's Platoon was held up by a German machine gun nest, he worked his way forward under heavy fire, and single-handed charged the post, bayoneting several gunners and capturing two machine guns.
