Buss, Frances Mary b. August 16, 1827 d. December 24, 1894 Educator. Born in London, the eldest of ten children, she taught at school with her mother, with whom, when she was eighteen, she opened a school at Kentish Town in North London. In the evenings, she studied French, German and Geography at Queen's College. In 1850, she founded the North London Collegiate School for Ladies, which continues to this day at Canons Park in Edgware, although the "for Ladies" has been dropped from the title.
