Locke, John b. August 29, 1632 d. October 28, 1704 Philosopher. He was born in Wrington, Somerset, England, the son of a solicitor and a small landowner who fought on the Parliamentarian side in the Civil War. She was the cousin of Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, through whose influence she entered the royal household.
