Briggs, Ted b. March 1, 1923 d. October 4, 2008 World War II British Royal Navy Figure. Born Albert Edward Pryke Briggs, he was the longest living survivor of the sinking of the HMS Hood and the best known of her crew. In July 1939, he joined HMS Hood's company as a Seaman and was aboard during the famous battle when the German battleship Bismarck sank the Hood, May 24, 1941.
