Shan Kuo-hsi, Paul Cardinal b. December 3, 1923 d. August 22, 2012 Roman Catholic Cardinal. A Jesuit, he is probably best remembered for his tenure as Bishop of Kaohsiung. Born at Puyang in what was then Zhili Province, little is recorded of his early years save that he studied at the Regional Seminary of St. Joseph, Chiughsien, and at the Jesuit Philosophical Institute of Manila prior to joining the Society of Jesus at Peking in 1946.
