Eyadema, Gnassingbe b. December 26, 1937 d. February 5, 2005 Longest ruling president in an African country. President Eyadema was a former Togolese French Foreign Legion officer and has ruled Togo since 1967 when he came to power following Africa's first post colonial coup in 1963.
