Younger, David Reginald b. March 17, 1871 d. July 10, 1900 2nd Boer War Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he served as a Captain in the 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders, British Army. In actions near Krugersdorp, South Africa, on July 11, 1900, Captain Younger volunteered to take out a party to recover a Royal Artillery wagon. He successfully dragged the artillery wagon under cover of a small kopje, through exposed a very heavy enemy fire at only 850 yards range.
