Bend, John Linthwaite 'Lin' b. December 20, 1922 d. April 6, 1978 Professional Hockey Player. A native of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, played the position of Center for the New York Rangers from 1942 to 1943. He retired from playing hockey in 1951. After his retirement he owned a farm, was active in minor hockey, and then worked as an investigative assistant to the ombudsman of Manitoba. In the 1960s Bend moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, but came back always to Poplar Point, Manitoba. He died in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 55.
