Mynarski, Andrew Charles b. October 14, 1916 d. January 3, 1944 World War II Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, he served as a Pilot Officer in the 419 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force. On the night of June 12, 1944, Pilot Officer Mynarski was the mid-upper gunner in a Avro Lancaster bomber during an attack on the railway yards at Cambrai, in France. When the aircraft was attacked by a German fighters, both port engines failed and fire broke out between the mid-upper and rear gun turrets.
