Murphy, Michael b. September 5, 1831 d. April 4, 1893 Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Cahir, Tipperary, Ireland, he was serving as a farrier with the 2nd Battalion of the Military Train (later the Royal Army Service Corps; now the Royal Logistics Corps) when he performed the deeds for which he was awarded the VC.
