Blixen, Karen 'Isak Dinesen' b. April 17, 1885 d. September 7, 1962 Author. She wrote a number of books, the most famous are:"Seven Gothic Tales" (1934), "Winter's Tales" (1942), and "Out of Africa" (1937). The latter was the basis for the Sydney Pollack movie of the same name. Her portrait is on a Danish 50 Kroner money note (see photo) and has been on a Danish stamp twice (the only non-royal person to receive such an honor).
