Lloyd George, David b. 1863 d. 1945 British Prime Minister (1916-1922). Lloyd George entered Parliament as a Liberal in 1890. He became President of the Board of Trade in 1905; Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1908; First Minister of Munitions in 1915; Secretary of State for War 1916; Prime Minister in the wartime coalition Government 1916-18; Prime Minister again 1918-22; Liberal Leader 1925-31 and leader of the Independent Liberals from 1931-5.
