Lagerlöf, Selma Ottilia Lovisa b. November 20, 1858 d. March 16, 1940 Author. She made her debut in 1891 with The Gösta Berling saga, a story about her own region, Värmland and her home Mårbacka. With her novel she starts the wave of symbolic litterature in Sweden of the 1890s. Her novels Jerusalem (1901 to 1902) are about religious emigrants from Sweden to Palestine.
