Connolly, Maurice b. March 13, 1877 d. May 28, 1921 US Congressman. He served Iowa in the US House of Representatives from 1913 to 1915, and was an unsuccessful candidate for the US Senate in 1914. Connolly was also a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1916. He was killed in an airplane accident near Indian Head, Maryland. (Bio by: LeRoy A.) Gilmore, Paul Howard b. July 14, 1873 d. December 29, 1962 Actor. He was one of America's most popular stage actors in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He also helped pioneer the development of motion pictures in the United States, appearing in at least a dozen Edison shorts and ten silent features. His last film was "Isle of Destiny," produced by him in 1920. Jones, George Wallace b. April 12, 1804 d. July 22, 1896 Democrat Congressman from Iowa. He served as a delegate from Wisconsin from 1837-1839. In 1848 he was elected as one of the first Senators from Iowa and served until 1859. In 1861 he was arrested on orders from William Seward for disloyalty because of corresponding with his friend, Jefferson Davis. He served 34 days in jail until he was released by President Lincoln.
