Author, Historian. She was a noted genealogist, author of "Linwood Cemetery" and several other books of Georgia and Alabama local histories. She was the first uniformed female law enforcement officer in Columbus,Ga and served in all three branches, Marshals Office, Sheriffs Office and the Police Department.

Colquitt, Col. Peyton H. b. October 8, 1831 d. September 22, 1863
Civil War Officer. During the Civil War, he became the commander of Gist's Brigade. On September 20, 1863, during the Battle of Chickmauga, he was mortally wounded. He died two days later. Georgia Governor. US Representative. Elected as a US Representative from 1851 to 1853, Johnson was appointed the Provisional Governor of Georgia by President Andrew Johnson at the end of the Civil War. As governor, he rescinded the Act of Secession, and adopted a new state constitution. He later ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate and US Presidency.
