Brady Sr., Thomas M. b. November 11, 1849 d. May 9, 1907 Artist, Mayor of Canton, Georgia. In the 1890s, he was commissioned by the Atlanta Ladies Memorial Association to create a monument to honor the unknown Confederate soldiers buried in Atlanta's historic Oakland Cemetery. Made of Georgia marble and based on the Swiss sculpture "The Lion of Lucerne," Brady designed and sculpted the "Lion of Atlanta." He was a Councilman in Canton, Georgia before becoming that city's Mayor in the early 1900s. He died after suffering a stroke in 1907. Lewis, John Wood b. February 1, 1801 d. July 11, 1865 Confederate Senator, Georgia State Representative, South Carolina State Legislator. Born in South Carolina, Lewis was a member of the South Carolina State legislature from 1830 to 1831, member of Georgia State Senate in 1845, and a Senator from Georgia in the Confederate Congress from 1862 to 1863.
