Johnson, Elijah D. b. June 5, 1832 d. January 30, 1890 Civil War Union Army Officer. A native and citizen soldier from Mercer, Maine, he served as Colonel and commander of the 21th Maine Volunteer Infantry. This regiment was organized as a result of the Aug. 4, 1862 call for 300,000 militia for nine months duration of service.
