Pandosy, Charles M. b. November 22, 1824 d. February 6, 1891 Religious Leader. Known as "Canada's Johnny Appleseed," he established first permanent missionary settlement in the Okanagan Valley, which is now Canada's premier tree fruit growing area, near Kelowna in 1859. Powell, Raymond Henry 'Ray' b. November 16, 1925 d. September 30, 1998 Professional Hockey Player. A native of Timmins, Ontario, he played the position of Center for the Chicago Blackhawks from 1950 to 1951. He had a long minor league career. After retiring from hockey Powell went into coaching with the Kelowna team in the Okanagan Valley League but quit after only two months. He passed away in Kelowna, British Columbia, at the age of 72. Stevens, Phil b. February 15, 1893 d. April 8, 1968 Professional Hockey Player. A native of St. Lambert, Ontario, he played for the Montreal Wanderers from 1914 to 1921, the Montreal Canadiens from 1921 to 1922, and the Boston Bruins from 1925 to 1926, Springfield Indians from 1926 to 1927, and the Oakland Sheiks from 1928 to 1932.
