Naudain, Arnold b. January 6, 1790 d. January 4, 1872 U.S. Senator, Soldier. Served as the Surgeon General of the Delaware Militia in the War of 1812. Served in the Delaware State House of Representatives from 1823 to 1827 holding the office of Speaker of the House in 1826. Elected to represent Delaware in United States Senate and served from 1830 to 1836. Served in the Delaware State Senate from 1836 to 1839. Tribbitt, Sherman Willard b. November 9, 1922 d. August 14, 2010 Governor of Delaware. A Democrat, he served as Delaware's 72nd Governor from January 16, 1973 to January 18, 1977. The Maryland-born Tribbitt saw action with the US Navy during World War II and afterwards settled in Odessa, Delaware, where he worked as a merchant. His first important political office was as a member of the Delaware House of Representatives (1957 to 1964), during which he was Speaker for all but one session.
