Hazzard, David b. May 18, 1781 d. July 8, 1864 Polititian. Elected as Delaware's 29th Governor and served from January 19, 1830 to January 15, 1833. Served in the Delaware State Senate from 1834 to 1838. During the War of 1812 was appointed an Ensign in Peter Wright's Company of the 8th Regiment and helped strengthen the defenses of Lewes, Delaware. Ponder, James b. October 31, 1819 d. November 5, 1897 Politician. Elected as Delaware's 44th Governor and served from January 17, 1871 to January 19, 1875. Served a number of years in the Delaware General Assembly and held the office of Speaker of the Senate. Served as Sheriff of New Castle County and also as the Delaware State Treasurer.
